Mr. ELk VS Granny

Winner: Mr Elk

I have a 2005 Grand Am. A Grand Am is not a big car by any means, if anything they are super long like a boat. Most other types of cars and forest animals are bigger and taller than a grand am. Last night we were driving home from the WorldMark Resort in Pinetop from a 1st Propane summer party (which I have to say was a very fun party) Swimming, Tennis, Game room, Fajita's and a lot of socializing. But back to the point... About halfway home we were just talking and an elk walked out in front of us. There was no reaction time at all except for Trevor to slam on the brakes, let off and try swerving away from where he was walking and then brake lock again. Our car when Trevor brake locked swerved right into the path that the elk was walking. Luckily we were already slowing down because we were going down a hill and turning a curve in the road. If we would have been going 3 miles faster we would have hit the elk head on. We barely grazed his back end and I am sure we broke his leg and maybe his hip. Here are pictures to explain the damage.
He first hit the front of the car and dented the hood and the fender and cracked the head light

Then he either kicked or jumped or something off our windshield (can you see the hairs on the edge of the window)

Then he broke off the side mirror (which it didn't brake it at all, but just popped it off)
That is the extent of the damage. It could have been a lot worse but I am so glad it wasn't any worse. I am still really shaken up from it all and I am now afraid to ride in the car at night. None of us were hurt. The extent of what happened to us was when he hit the window I was sprayed in the face and all over my legs with glass. Glad the glass just crumbles and isn't sharp because I would be cut from head to toe is so. Here are a few more pictures.
The window is caved in and the windshield wiper is bent. Look at all the hair.
There is actually random hairs that starts at the window and is stuck in creases of our car all the way to the back.
This picture does not show it very good but there is two small dents on the backside of the wheel that are from him kicking

And this just shows the crack across the light, and the dent that put a fold in our fender and you cant really see the dent in the hood. There is also scratches all the way from here to the rear passenger side door. And a small dent on the bumper.
WE are very blessed that we were already slowing down and that we did not hit him head on. He was so much bigger than our car that I know I would have been seriously injured had we hit him any harder. WE are so grateful that no one was hurt and even Liv slept through the whole accident and for another 3 hours after. Maybe some day I will get over this accident (and yes I know it wasn't that bad, but I am a chicken and I am a little traumatized) but for now we are going to stick to driving during daylight hours. Happy Friday everyone. Hope you have a safe and happy weekend with whatever you do.
P.S some of the window pictures look like there is blood on the windshield too but I just want to say that there is no blood at all on our car. A lot of hairs but no blood.

Two Sides

There is always two sides to Liv! The clean and cute looking kid... and then the side that no one really see's besides Trevor and I! Here are pictures to explain.
Holding her own bottle

Sitting in her bouncer and watching TV alone

Hanging out with dad

Giving the camera a cute little smile

Just chill outside with Rush

The 2 cutest 6 and 5 month old ever

Letting Rush play with her ear

Having a stare down

Talking to Trevor

Being good on a car ride home

Letting mom fix her hair

And letting dad hold her while mom takes a picture
This was the fun loving side of Liv.... Now Lets go to the crazy out of control Liv!
She thinks that she can crawl

This is after we took out the pony tails

Look at that hair

She thinks that she is a big girl and can stand on the back of the couch alone

Why yes that is spit up.. and yes I had to take apart the whole car seat to clean it up

See... she is crazy
Even though she is cute as can be one minute and a silly girl the next we love her so much. She keeps me on my toes already. She is starting to laugh for everyone and smile for anyone who will look at her. If you lay her on the floor and put a toy a few feet away she will roll all the way to go get it and then roll all the way back to be closer to you.  She is learning to arch her back so that she is almost out of her bumbo. I have to always have an eye on her at all times if she is not in her crib or on the floor. She is growing up so fast and we love every minute of it.
